GRAACA Summer Tour

The long awaited, long anticipated summer tour to Glen Rock is nearly here. We will meet at the Penn Township Community Park (Kids Kingdom) 4601 Grandview Road, Hanover, Pa..  There we will have coffee and donuts from 8:30 to 9:30. There is a jiffy john at the park and a Rutters on the first leg when we leave the park. Nothing else until we get to Prueitt’s.

At 9:30 we will depart on a leisurely driving tour on two lane country roads which will bring us to the town of Glen Rock at approximately 10:30. We will be touring Al Prueitt & Sons antique car restoration at 8 Winter Ave. Parking for Prueitt’s will be at Trinity United Church of Christ at 27 Manchester Street (Rt. 216) ½ block past Winter Ave. For those who can’t walk the ½ block, there are a half dozen or so parking spaces at the bank next to Prueitt’s and a small municipal parking lot across the street.

At 11:45 we will drive two blocks to the Glen Rock Mill Inn where we will have lunch from 12:00 to 1:30. At 1:30 the Northern Central Railway will pick us up with # 17 a historic 1800’s steam locomotive,

Tender and four passenger cars for a scenic ride to Hanover Junction. We will be riding in the Lincoln car.

Hanover Junction is where the line split, one track continued East to York and beyond, and the other turned West to Hanover and on to Gettysburg. You will be riding on the same rails that carried President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 on his journey to Gettysburg to deliver his famous Gettysburg Address.

The train will remain at Hanover Junction for about ½ hour during which time you can explore the small museum in the train station.

At approximately 2:30 the train will depart Hanover Junction and return you to your car at the Glen Rock Mill Inn. If you miss the train don’t worry, it’s only about a five mile walk on the rail trail. This will conclude our day, thank you for joining us on the summer tour and have a safe trip home.

GRAACA Spring Tour

Join us Saturday, May 8th for the GRAACA Spring Tour starting at Bill Wessels’ second Antique Car Barn just south of Dillsburg for coffee and donuts from 9 am till 10 am. View over 20 pre- and post-war cars in this collection that contains completely different cars than seen on the 2019 Fall Tour. We will then travel on two lane roads for approximately one hour through rural Adams County to our next touring site: The Gettysburg Battlefield. We can follow the battlefield auto tour at our own pace. We have allotted approximately two and a half hours to allow you to stop at the monuments and exit your cars for photos and time to read the plaques and information boards. Don’t forget to find our Region “logo”, at the Eternal Flame Peace Monument. We end the tour with lunch in Gettysburg at 2:00 pm. This will again be a slow pace tour and we encourage you to bring out your “oldest cars”.
